What is the most important issue facing your community or the world today? What leadership skills are necessary to address this issue?
When I enrolled my first year in campus, I was welcomed with a newcomers’ orientation that told me about youngsters’ roles as the guardian of value, agent of change, and iron stock. In a nation, for example, students are middle class that go between civil and government, where we have an important role to develop a good governance system.
It is a big thing that most of people in my community do not put much concern in young people development. Our nation’s multidimensional crisis could be ended if we just can develop our next generation well, by giving them a proper and value-based education. The problem is nowadays young people not longer a passionate community who fight for their idealism. We were grown up with pessimistic and tech-instant paradigm. We started to think and do things instantly and then trapped in pop culture, individualism, lack of manner and culture instead of character development. Only few people who still have values and concern about their environment. So, how can a nation grow well when their young people still stand for their own self-present-happiness-thing? Young people no longer have ideal goal of their life or their nation. They have no a dream to achieve either passion to solve problems.
This is why we need leaders that bring us positivity and hope. Leaders with great integrity to guard values, create change, and develop iron stock. Leaders who can act and responsible, not just sit and talk. We do not need any superman; instead we build a superTEAM to build a better nation.
